Wilkinson County Schools is committed to creating a focused learning environment where every student can engage fully in instruction, build stronger connections, and maximize every learning opportunity.
Beginning with the 2026β2027 school year, personal technology will not be permitted during the instructional day on any Wilkinson County Schools campus. This districtwide expectation applies to all students in PreK through 12th grade from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
Personal technology includes:
Cell phones
Smart watches
Tablets
Earbuds and headphones
Other personal electronic devices
These devices must remain completely stored away throughout the instructional day.
This initiative supports Georgiaβs Distraction-Free Education Act and extends distraction-free expectations across all grade levels within Wilkinson County Schools. By limiting access to personal devices during the school day, we are creating an environment that promotes focused learning, stronger relationships with teachers and peers, improved emotional wellness, and greater student success.
Families can help by reminding students to keep their devices stored away each day. If a family member needs to reach a student during the instructional day, they should contact the schoolβs main office.
Additional information about the districtβs distraction-free expectations will be available during District-Wide Open House on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
Thank you for partnering with us as we work to provide safe, focused, and effective learning environments where every student can thrive.
