Ms. Amerson's 4th graders explore Standard S4E2:
Develop a model to support an explanation of why the length of day and night changes throughout the year, with the learning target of "I am learning to model how the seasons change by Earth's rotation and orbit around the sun," and "I am learning how day and night are related to the Earth's tilt and rotation."
Using spheres, pins, and flashlights, students created models and demonstrated how the sun moves around the Earth. In groups, students then drew diagrams to support their demonstrations.

On IT Professionals Day, we're certain we couldn't do "IT" without the knowledge, skill, and minds of Mr. Burton and Mr. Holton!
We appreciate the hard work you do, not just on the day that the calendar has set aside, but every day! Without a doubt, we are well-connected in the hands of our IT Professionals! π»

π September is National Literacy Month!
Our Media Specialist, Mrs. Fowler, is leading the charge in bringing awareness to literacy all month long with a variety of exciting events.
The first event, βReaders Make Leaders,β featured leaders from our community volunteering their time to read to WCPES students. Mrs. Griffinβs class especially enjoyed a visit from Mr. Wayne Amerson, McIntyre Police Chief, who shared a story with them.
What a wonderful way to show our students that strong readers truly make strong leaders!

πβοΈ Our students are becoming authors and editors! In Ms. Washington's class, they practiced peer review while writing their narratives.
π First, they read each otherβs stories all the way through.
π‘ Then, they shared what they loved most.
π Next, they gave helpful feedback on characters, setting, and plot.
π Finally, they suggested ways to make the stories even stronger!
Learning to give and receive feedback is just as important as writing the story itself. Our Warriors are growing as writers every day! ππ #WCPESWarriors #YoungAuthors

Today, Wilkinson County Schools joins the nation in remembering and honoring the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We also recognize the bravery of first responders, the strength of families, and the resilience of communities who carried our country forward.
We pause to reflect on the values of unity, service, and courage. These are reminders of the importance of standing together. May we never forget.

A clean lunchroom shows respectβfor yourself, your friends, and your school. These students have demonstrated a high level of respect for their school by keeping their lunchroom clean! These students volunteered to wipe down the tables after lunch everyday last week! Not only did they make the tables gleam, they inspired other students to take part in keeping the lunchroom clean. Thank you for showing Warrior Pride! Pictured below are: Jaylie Duncan, Nikolai Simmons, Kimmie Patrick, Chasten Clemons, Zavier Davis, Kingston Scott, and Kaidence Holt.
